How does the sizing work?
Adult costumes are sold as small, medium, large and extra large, and they run closer to the chest or bust measurement on the listing than to your usual high street size. Children's costumes are sized by height rather than age. If you are between sizes, go up — most of these are worn over your own clothes.
What comes in the packet?
Every listing spells out exactly what is included. As a rule you get the main garment and any attached piece, and wigs, shoes, tights, weapons and make-up are sold separately. Hats are usually included where the hat is the whole point of the costume, such as witches and pirates.
Can I wash a costume afterwards?
Most are polyester and will take a cool hand wash and a drip dry. Keep them out of the tumble dryer and away from a hot iron, since a lot of the trim is glued rather than stitched. Anything with foam, sequins or printed panels is best sponged clean in patches.
