Disco, neon and hip hop. Costumes and accessories for every decade party from Saturday night fever to the nineties.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which decade is easiest to do with clothes I already own?
The 1990s, because a tracksuit or plain black top with gold chains, a dollar ring and yellow-lens glasses reads immediately. The 1970s is nearly as easy with flared trousers and an afro wig. The 1920s needs the least of all if you own a plain shift dress, since long pearls and a headband do the rest.
Are these full costumes or accessories?
Mostly accessories — jewellery, wigs, glasses, gloves, props and hats — with a handful of full outfits and separates such as the black flared trousers. That suits decades parties, where people usually want to build a look around their own clothes. Full outfits are in the main costumes collection.
We are doing a decades party as a group. What works?
Pick one decade for the whole group and give everyone a different signature piece rather than matching outfits. Disco ball jewellery, afro wigs, neon fishnet gloves and photobooth props spread nicely across eight or ten people. It also keeps the cost per head under about £10.
