The full Bananas in Pyjamas look in one box: banana headpiece, blue and white striped top and trousers, and shoe covers. Officially licensed, and instantly recognisable to anyone who watched children's television in the nineties.

Please note: this is one costume for one person, not a pair. B1 and B2 wear the same pyjamas, so if you want the pair you will need to order two.

Styling it

It works best as a pair, so talk a friend into being the other one. Plain white plimsolls under the shoe covers keep the colours clean.

Care

Hand wash the top and trousers in cool water and hang them to dry. Do not tumble dry, and press on the reverse with a cool iron rather than going over the printed stripes. Spot clean the headpiece only and keep it dry.

What's included?

Four pieces: the banana headpiece, the blue and white striped top, the matching striped trousers, and a pair of shoe covers. Shoes are not included, so wear your own underneath the covers.

The sizes seem small — should I order up?

Probably, yes. Costume sizing follows European measurements and runs roughly one UK size smaller than high street clothing. Check the size guide on this page against your actual measurements rather than the size you normally buy, and if you fall between two sizes take the larger one. Costumes are cut for a single evening, not for tailoring.

Can I wash it?

Gently, and by hand. Costumes are made from lightweight polyester with printed and glued details that do not survive a washing machine. Hand wash cold, do not bleach, do not tumble dry and keep the iron away from any printed panels. Spot cleaning is usually enough.

Is this costume fire-safe?

All of our costumes are made to the toy safety standards required for sale in the UK and carry the appropriate labelling. That said, no costume is fireproof. Keep well away from candles, pumpkin lights, open fires and cookers, and never leave a child in a costume unsupervised near a naked flame. If you are lighting a pumpkin, use an LED tealight.

Will it last more than one night?

Yes, with reasonable care. These are proper costumes rather than disposable ones, and most of our customers get two or three Halloweens out of them before children outgrow them. Hang it up rather than leaving it in a bag, and keep any mask or accessory in the original box.

How quickly will my order arrive?

Order before 3pm Monday to Friday and we dispatch the same day. Standard UK delivery is 2-3 working days and free on orders over £40. Next-day delivery is available at checkout up to 3pm. In the week running up to Halloween we recommend ordering by the Monday to be safe — couriers get very busy and we would rather you had it early.

Can I return it if it doesn't fit?

Yes. You have 30 days from delivery to send anything back, provided it is unworn and still has its tags and original packaging. Start the return at fancydressclub.co.uk/returns and we will email you a label. For hygiene reasons we cannot accept returns on wigs, fangs, cosmetics, prosthetics or hosiery once the packaging has been opened.
