Description

A sack mask in coarse burlap hessian, with one button sewn on for an eye and a rough stitched line for the mouth. The uneven weave and loose threads do most of the work here, and it looks far nastier in person than it does flat in the bag.

One size, made for adults. It pulls on over the head like a sack and sits loose rather than close to the face, so head size is not really an issue. The hessian is scratchy against bare skin.

Styling it

Old dungarees or a checked shirt with straw pushed out of the cuffs and collar, and it reads as a scarecrow straight away. Rough the shirt up with a bit of brown make-up.

Care

Spot clean with a damp cloth only and air dry fully. Do not machine wash or soak it, as hessian shrinks and frays badly when wet. Store it flat and dry, and trim any loose threads rather than pulling them.

How do I store a latex mask?

Wipe the inside with a damp cloth after wearing and let it dry completely before you put it away. Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from radiators, as heat and UV harden latex and make it crack. Stuffing it loosely with tissue helps it keep its shape between Halloweens.

Is this too scary for young children?

This one sits at the frightening end of our range and we would not recommend it for a primary school party or for children who are easily spooked. Is this costume fire-safe?

All of our costumes are made to the toy safety standards required for sale in the UK and carry the appropriate labelling. That said, no costume is fireproof. Keep well away from candles, pumpkin lights, open fires and cookers, and never leave a child in a costume unsupervised near a naked flame. If you are lighting a pumpkin, use an LED tealight.

How quickly will my order arrive?

Order before 3pm Monday to Friday and we dispatch the same day. Standard UK delivery is 2-3 working days and free on orders over £40. Next-day delivery is available at checkout up to 3pm. In the week running up to Halloween we recommend ordering by the Monday to be safe — couriers get very busy and we would rather you had it early.

Can I return it if it doesn't fit?

Yes. You have 30 days from delivery to send anything back, provided it is unworn and still has its tags and original packaging. For hygiene reasons we cannot accept returns on wigs, fangs, cosmetics, prosthetics or hosiery once the packaging has been opened.
