Go by the centimetre size, not the age. The age band is the manufacturer's own guide and it is printed on the packaging, but it runs young — most toddlers are taller than the stated age suggests. Measure your child and pick the nearest size up, because these go over normal clothes and a toddler in October is usually wearing more layers than you expect.

Description

A long pink princess dress with a full skirt and gold trim, worn with a tie belt and a matching cape that fastens at the neck.

The polyester is light and the skirt is soft rather than hooped, so it does not stand out stiffly and will not get in a small child's way. Only two sizes are made, 1-2 years and 2-3 years, and the dress runs long, which is fine for photographs but worth watching on stairs. The cape ties at the throat, so keep an eye on it during rough play.

How do children's sizes work?

Children's costumes are sized by height in centimetres, not by age, because children of the same age vary enormously. Stand your child against a wall, measure to the top of their head, and pick the nearest size up. Remember they will almost certainly be wearing a jumper underneath on a cold October evening.

Can I wash it?

Gently, and by hand. Costumes are made from lightweight polyester with printed and glued details that do not survive a washing machine. Hand wash cold, do not bleach, do not tumble dry and keep the iron away from any printed panels. Spot cleaning is usually enough.

Is this costume fire-safe?

All of our costumes are made to the toy safety standards required for sale in the UK and carry the appropriate labelling. That said, no costume is fireproof. Keep well away from candles, pumpkin lights, open fires and cookers, and never leave a child in a costume unsupervised near a naked flame. If you are lighting a pumpkin, use an LED tealight.

Will it last more than one night?

Yes, with reasonable care. These are proper costumes rather than disposable ones, and most of our customers get two or three Halloweens out of them before children outgrow them. Hang it up rather than leaving it in a bag, and keep any mask or accessory in the original box.

How quickly will my order arrive?

Order before 3pm Monday to Friday and we dispatch the same day. Standard UK delivery is 2-3 working days and free on orders over £40. Next-day delivery is available at checkout up to 3pm. In the week running up to Halloween we recommend ordering by the Monday to be safe — couriers get very busy and we would rather you had it early.

Can I return it if it doesn't fit?

Yes. You have 30 days from delivery to send anything back, provided it is unworn and still has its tags and original packaging. For hygiene reasons we cannot accept returns on wigs, fangs, cosmetics, prosthetics or hosiery once the packaging has been opened.
