Water Bombs, Assorted Colours

A pack of small water balloons in bright assorted colours. Fill from the tap, tie, and that is the afternoon sorted — the sort of thing that costs pennies and keeps a garden full of children busy.

What's in the pack

• Pack of small water balloons in assorted bright colours

Sizing & fit

One size. The balloons are small, made to be filled to roughly the size of a plum rather than a football, so they burst on impact instead of bouncing. Do not overfill them or they will split as you tie.

Styling it

Fill a bucket of them in advance rather than one at a time at the tap, and set a boundary in the garden first. They also work as a summer party game with two teams and a target.

Care

Nothing to clean. Pick every burst piece of latex out of the grass afterwards and bin it. Keep the unused balloons somewhere cool and dry and use them within the season, as latex perishes.

More like this

There is more of this sort of thing in accessories and among the latest new in lines, and plenty for the party itself in kids' costumes.

Safety: Uninflated and burst balloons are a choking hazard. Keep children under eight supervised and children under three away from them altogether. Throw at bodies, never at faces, and pick up every fragment afterwards.
