Halloween Under £10

Everything on this page is under a tenner and most of it is under a fiver. It is the shelf people raid in the last week of October.

It is accessories and make-up rather than full costumes — vampire fangs with blood capsules, latex zombie eye prosthetics, fake blood, white hair spray, witch and Day of the Dead face jewels, spiderweb and toxic-green hosiery, fishnet gloves, foam knives, bloody cleavers, devil pitchforks and a few masks. Two or three of these worn over your own black clothes will beat a cheap full costume every time, and cost about the same.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I put a whole look together for under £10?
Yes, if you start from clothes you already own. Black jeans and a black top plus fangs, fake blood and face jewels comes to about £8 and reads clearly as a vampire. Pick one strong idea and buy three things for it rather than one thing each for three ideas.

Are the fangs and prosthetics reusable?
The moulded fang caps can be washed and worn again, though the fitting putty is usually a one-night job. Latex prosthetics such as the zombie eyes are single use once they have been glued down. Fake blood, hair spray and face jewels are all one wear.

Is any of this suitable for children?
Face jewels, hair spray and the soft foam props are fine for most children. Fangs, tooth caps and small novelty pieces are not suitable for under-threes, and adhesives and latex should be patch tested on the inside of the arm the day before. Age guidance is on each product page.
