Fantasy & Myth

Dragons, wizards, mermaids and outlaws, all filed under one heading. If it never existed but everyone still knows what it looks like, it is probably in here.

The bulk of the range is props and headwear: sword and shield sets from £9.49, a collapsible trident at £5.49, bow and arrow sets, gnome hats at £3.49 and the Harry Potter wands, ties, Golden Snitch and broomstick. Full costumes are fewer — a women's mermaid at £29.49, a toddler fairytale princess, the Sherwood outlaw at £51.99 and Gryffindor robes for both adults and children. For a Game of Thrones look the Daenerys or Daemon Targaryen wig does more work than the clothes, so buy that first and build round it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the swords and tridents safe for children?
They are moulded plastic props with blunt edges, not toys with a safety rating, so they are fine for dressing up but not for play fighting. The collapsible trident pushes down on impact, which makes it the gentler option. Supervise younger children with any of them.

Do the Harry Potter robes include the tie and wand?
No. The Gryffindor robes come as the robe alone, and the ties, wands, Golden Snitch and broomstick are all sold separately. A robe plus a tie and wand is the combination most people end up with.

Which fantasy costumes work for World Book Day?
The Gryffindor robes, the Sherwood outlaw and the toddler fairytale princess are the usual choices, and the kids' robe at £25.99 is the one we send out most in late February. Order by the middle of that month, because the week before World Book Day is our busiest of the spring.
